After the benchmark 30-stock market closed at a record on Friday, driven by excitement at the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures wavered near the flatline.
Just 15 points, or 0.04%, were added to Dow futures. Futures for the S&P 500 fell 0.3%, while those for the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.5%.
During Thursday’s normal session, stocks rose sharply; the S&P 500 gained 1.7% to close over the 5,700 barrier for the first time. For the first time ever, the blue-chip Dow closed the day more than 500 points higher, closing above 42,000. During the day, both indices reached record highs. It was a 2.5% gain for the Nasdaq Composite.
