The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose on Wednesday, supported by falling bond yields following the Treasury Department’s announcement of a larger buyback program for long-term debt.
The 30-stock Dow gained 97 points, or 0.2%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 increased by 0.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.2%.
Long term Treasury yields declined after the Treasury revealed plans to at least double its repurchase of government debt, focusing on the 10 to 30 year maturities, including the 20-year bonds.
