EU Claims that Content about the Israel-Hamas Conflict on Elon Musk’s X is “illegal,” Which is Refuted by X

After one of the top regulators in the European Union stated that it had observed indications that the service was being used to disseminate false information, Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday explained how the social media platform is handling potentially illegal content related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Over the weekend, Israel was attacked by the extremist Palestinian organisation Hamas. The United States, Japan, Australia, Israel, the European Union, and numerous other nations have classified Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Yaccarino said in a letter published on X that following the Hamas attack on Israel, the social media company “formed a leadership committee to analyse the situation.”

Since the commencement of the conflict, Yaccarino claimed that X had “found and erased hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts.”

The CEO also discussed the company’s stance on aggressive comments, fabricated or edited media, and violent attackers.

Yaccarino stated, “X is committed to serving the public conversation, especially during times of adversity, and recognises the significance of resolving any illicit content that may be transmitted through the platform.

We continue to remove such accounts in real time, including preemptive measures, because there is no place on X for terrorist organisations or violent extremist groups.
