Stock futures were slightly down on Tuesday morning as investors braced themselves for a key inflation report.
Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped by 38 points, representing a 0.1% decrease. Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures saw a decline of 0.18%, and Nasdaq 100 futures fell by 0.21%.
In after-hours trading, shares of Avis Budget Group experienced a 2% drop following lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue. Conversely, JetBlue Airways saw a 16% surge after activist investor Carl Icahn disclosed a nearly 10% stake in the company.
During regular trading hours, the Dow attained a new record high, while the S&P 500 closed down marginally at nearly 0.1% lower. The S&P 500 also surpassed the 5,000 milestone for the first time on Friday. The Nasdaq Composite experienced a 0.3% decline. Notably, all three major indexes have been on a five-week winning streak.
