According to the CEO of American semiconductor firm Qualcomm, artificial intelligence might revitalise the smartphone market.
Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, stated in an interview with CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal on Tuesday that the company’s upcoming Snapdragon Summit in October may usher in substantial advancements in mobile technology.
The [Snapdragon] Summit will focus on the amazing use cases that we are seeing with phones and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), which “may establish a new upgrade cycle for phones.”
Amon declared, “We don’t know the timing, but it’s happening.
Due to consumers becoming much more cost-conscious, sales of smartphones have declined this year.
Many people choose not to upgrade their handsets because they believe that modern smartphones don’t differ significantly from earlier models that already have advanced cameras and CPUs.
Data from market research company IDC shows that global smartphone sales fell 11.3% year over year to 1.21 billion in 2022, the lowest level since 2013.
