Wednesday’s stock decline continued Wall Street’s slow start to the new month.
The Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 both experienced 0.2% declines. 83 points, or 0.25%, were lost by the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Health-related stocks underperformed, causing the S&P 500 sector to fall by 0.7%. Merck and Johnson & Johnson were two of the worst underperformers, dropping 1.9% and 1.7%, respectively, and putting pressure on the Dow. Pfizer and Moderna both experienced declines of more than 1%.
