Flight delays in Brazil’s Sao Paolo. In Richmond, Vermont, truck drivers took dangerous detours. as well as disturbances to Ukraine’s electricity grid.
These problems arise from a worldwide communication system that depends heavily on GPS satellites and the signals they send for basic operations.
A Boulder, Colorado business called Mesa Quantum is creating chip-sized alternative technology to make sure that American infrastructure won’t collapse even if the country’s GPS satellites are interfered with by bad weather, conflict, or ageing.
Mesa Quantum is specifically creating “chip-scale atomic clocks” and other miniature quantum sensors that can measure and identify changes in their surroundings and use that information to indicate a device’s location, its intended destination, and its ability to maintain synchronisation with other systems.
In addition to enabling robots, underwater drones, and autonomous vehicles to navigate skilfully in crowded areas or around obstructions where GPS signals are poor or nonexistent, these sensors can guarantee clear and stable video chats regardless of the users’ location.
