Monday’s Stock Market Opening

The following news items are the most crucial for investors to know as they begin their trading day:

1. Observing

As all three indices just experienced a losing week, stock futures were up on Monday morning. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures increased by 0.2%. S&P 500 futures increased by 0.4%, while Nasdaq 100 futures increased by 0.6%. After numerous economic reports last week were stronger than anticipated, raising concerns that the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates more than previously anticipated, investors will be keeping an eye on critical inflation data this week.

2. Is 15 a lucky number?

The newest iPhone from Apple is anticipated to be unveiled this week. Before the crucial December quarter, which is its largest of the year by revenue, the corporation is hosting a launch event at its headquarters on Tuesday.

3. Watch IPO

Instacart amended its registration for its impending initial public offering and stated that it aims to generate up to $616 million in revenue. The online grocery delivery service also announced on Monday that it will issue a total of 22 million shares, of which 14.1 million would be newly issued by the business and 7.9 million would come from selling stockholders.

4. Help for tenants

Apartment rents have been declining in comparison to the existing prices, and they may even go lower. According to real estate digital company RealPage, rents increased by just 0.28% in August compared to the same month last year. In August 2022, they were reporting 11% yearly growth, thus there has been a significant change. The fact that so many flats are being built, increasing supply, is one of the reasons rents are rising more slowly. With almost 460,000 expected to be completed this year alone, the amount of new apartments being built is at a 50-year high.

5. Morocco earthquake

More than 2,400 people have died as a result of a massive 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco on Friday. The United Nations believes that 300,000 people were affected by the earthquake, and the death toll is expected to climb. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, an additional aftershock with a magnitude of 3.9 occurred on Sunday, though it wasn’t immediately clear if it caused any damage. For a third night in a row, many Marrakech residents were sleeping on the streets because to the aftershocks’ potential effects.
