Nasdaq and S&P 500 Close Higher as Investors’ Expectations for a September Rate Drop are Raised by Fed Minutes

A synopsis of the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting from last month gave investors further optimism that rates will drop soon, which led to an increase in the S&P 500 on Wednesday.

The benchmark closed within 1% of its record closing on Wednesday thanks to the advance. During the session, four of the eleven sectors that make up the S&P 500 reached 52-week highs.

In addition to securing its eighth straight positive day, the Nasdaq Composite increased 0.57% to 17,918.99. With a gain of 55.52 points, or 0.14%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day at 40,890.49, marking its sixth consecutive winning day.
