Wednesday saw a decline in stocks as pressure from rising Treasury yields overshadowed a sustained increase in the artificial intelligence darling Nvidia.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped to 38,441.54—a decrease of 411.32 points, or 1.06%. It was the S&P 500’s first negative session in three, falling 0.74% to 5,266.95.
Nvidia’s growth helped to partially offset losses for the technology-heavy index, although the Nasdaq Composite still fell 0.58% to 16,920.58.
After losing 2.6% at first, Nvidia gained 0.8%. The megacap tech company has increased in value throughout each trading session since releasing its amazing earnings report on Wednesday. The stock has increased by almost 21% since then.
