S&P 500 Declines as Oil Prices Weigh on Stocks; Dow Slides Over 450 Points Ending 5-Day Winning Streak

The S&P 500 declined on Thursday as traders monitored developments in the Middle East, including a potential deal to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Investors also considered a slate of corporate earnings reports.

The broad market index fell by 0.2%, while the Nasdaq Composite edged down 0.1%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped approximately 464 points, or 0.9%, amid a 3% decline in Salesforce shares following the company’s leadership reshuffle announcement.

Meanwhile, SanDisk shares declined 5% after its fiscal fourth-quarter results fell short of investor expectations.
