On Wednesday, stocks fluctuated as the Federal Reserve hinted it was succeeding in combating inflation by pausing its rate-hike program.
However, the central bank also signaled that it will increase rates twice more this year.
The S&P barely gained anything, moving up 0.08% to finish at 4,372.59. To close at 13,626.48, the Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.39%, helped by advances in Nvidia and AMD. Losses in UnitedHealth caused the Dow Jones Industrial Average to decline 0.68%, or 232.79 points, to close the session at 33,979.33.
Both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq reached its best levels since April 2022 during the session.
