The S&P 500 remained largely steady on Tuesday as investors balanced optimism about potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz with ongoing concerns over whether the U.S. and Iran can achieve a broader resolution to their tensions.
The broad market index hovered around unchanged, while the Nasdaq Composite declined by 0.3%.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 202 points, or 0.4%.
Supporting the S&P 500, Nvidia shares rose over 1%.
The company announced on Monday a partnership with six major asset managers to accelerate investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, mobilizing more than $500 billion.
