S&P 500 Holds Steady as Traders Assess Oil Rebound and In Line Inflation Data

The S&P 500 was little changed Thursday following a U.S. inflation report that eased concerns about persistent inflation, despite rising oil prices.

The S&P 500 edged down 0.1%
The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.2%
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 192 points, or 0.4%

The April personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index showed a 0.4% increase for the month, with the 12month inflation rate at 3.8%, matching economist expectations. The report suggests inflation pressures may be easing slightly.
