On Thursday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite each fell 0.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average hovered around flat.
The market was pressured by a spike in crude oil prices and Treasury yields, amid uncertainties in U.S.-Iran relations.
Crude prices surged after reports that Iran’s supreme leader issued a directive to limit enriched uranium within the country, complicating efforts to resolve the U.S.-Iran conflict.
West Texas Intermediate futures increased 1% to $99 per barrel, and Brent crude rose 1% to $105 per barrel.
Nvidia’s latest earnings report also failed to give a boost to the tech sector.
