The S&P 500 rose on Wednesday, supported by a decline in oil prices, as traders awaited Nvidia’s first-quarter earnings report.
The index increased by 0.5%, with the Nasdaq gaining 0.8% and the Dow up 160 points (0.3%).
Oil futures declined West Texas Intermediate fell 3% to around $100 per barrel, and Brent crude dropped 4% to approximately $106.
Investors are focusing on Nvidia’s upcoming earnings, which will offer insights into the AI market and chip demand.
The company’s shares recently increased by more than 1%.
