Stock Futures Experience A Small Decline Before The Fed Policy Meeting

Tuesday morning saw a small decline in stock futures as Wall Street prepared for the opening of the Federal Reserve’s two-day September policy meeting.

S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures both decreased by 0.07% and 0.11%, respectively, while futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 19 points, or 0.05%.

The S&P 500 edged up 0.07%, but the major averages had a relatively flat session. In contrast to the 30-stock Dow, which gained 0.02%, or 6.06 points, the Nasdaq Composite only managed to gain 0.01%.

On CNBC’s “Closing Bell” on Monday, senior vice president and portfolio manager at Alger Ankur Crawford stated, “The overall market feels a little more choppier than we’ve seen for the first nine months of this year.” “China, that was supposed to work and come out of Covid… the American consumer is showing signals of a little bit more pressure,” the speaker said. As a result, markets are becoming more choppy, which is essentially a waterfall into technology.
