As the ongoing strength in technology stocks benefited the overall market, the S&P 500 increased Monday to begin a holiday-shortened trading week.
The benchmark for large-cap stocks increased by 0.4%. Tesla, Meta, and Nvidia all saw at least 2% increases, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.8%.
With a 65-point decline, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was the relative underperformer.
Throughout the week, trading is anticipated to remain comparatively quiet. The New York Stock Exchange is closed on Christmas Day and closes early on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET for Christmas Eve.
