Stocks surged on Thursday as investors turned their attention to upcoming corporate earnings and an important labor report scheduled for later in the week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a gain of 322.37 points, or 0.85%, at 38,225.66. The S&P 500 rose by 0.91% to settle at 5,064.20, while the Nasdaq Composite recorded a significant surge of 1.51% to end at 15,840.96.
Angelo Kourkafas, senior investment strategist at Edward Jones, noted, “We see markets reacting positively following the Fed meeting, which was perceived as less hawkish than anticipated. The prevailing expectation is that rate hikes may be postponed rather than completely derailed.”
