The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 460 points, or 1%, on Monday as investors cheered President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for Treasury secretary and the start of the shortened Thanksgiving trading week.
The S&P 500 was up 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 1%.
The morning brought a broad market rally as investors cheered Trump’s plan to nominate Scott Bessent, the founder of Key Square Group, as Treasury secretary.
Over 450 S&P 500 stocks were up during the session, while the small cap-focused Russell 2000 was up more than 1.5%.
