Dow Jones Industrial Average was relatively unchanged on Friday as it aimed to extend its gains for the week, which have propelled the 30-stock average to record levels.
During the trading session, the Dow saw a modest increase of 8 points, or 0.03%. The S&P 500 also experienced a slight uptick of 0.09%, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed by 0.5%. Notably, Costco’s shares surged nearly 3% following the company’s better-than-expected quarterly results, leading to Wall Street’s positive response and a dividend announcement of $15 per share.
This positive momentum signifies the potential for the major indexes to secure their seventh consecutive week of gains. As of Thursday, the Dow has risen by 2.8% for the week, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are both up by 2.5%. Additionally, if the S&P 500 maintains its current trajectory, it will achieve its longest winning streak since 2017. Similarly, the Dow is poised for its ninth straight week of gains, the most extended stretch since 2019.
