The Key Averages Continue to Rise Into the Third Week as the Dow Leaps 100 Points to Close at a Record

As traders processed fresh data suggesting continued success in reducing inflation, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to a new record on Friday.

Wall Street reported three weeks in a row of gains. At 42,313.00, the 30-stock Dow gained 137.89 points, or 0.33%. During the session, the blue-chip average hit a closing record and an all-time high.

The Nasdaq Composite ended the day down 0.39% at 18,119.59, while the S&P 500 had a minor decline of 0.13% to 5,738.17. The technology-heavy index was negatively impacted by a 2% decrease in Nvidia.
