The S&P 500 Closes Above 5,000 for the First Time, but Stock Futures Are Not Much Affected

U.S. stock futures were steady early Monday after the S&P 500’s record-breaking performance last week.

Futures linked to the S&P 500 index remained unchanged, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures showed a slight decline of 30 points, or 0.1%. Nasdaq 100 futures were also flat.

Last week saw the S&P 500 closing above the historic 5,000 mark for the first time ever, with the index having surged over 5% since the beginning of the year.

Following a fifth consecutive week of gains, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite registered increases of 1.4% and 2.3% respectively last week, whereas the Dow saw a marginal rise in value.
