Tech shares lifted the S&P 500, offsetting some of its earlier losses, though the index still closed with modest declines on Tuesday.
The broader market index finished 0.15% lower at 4,756.50. It had briefly fallen by 0.7% earlier in the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 157.85 points or 0.42% at 37,525.16, rebounding from a low of approximately 310 points during the session. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite recovered from nearly a 0.9% drop to end the day with a slight gain of 0.09% at 14,857.71.
Nvidia saw a 1.7% increase, reaching a new record high. Amazon and Alphabet also climbed more than 1.5%. Additionally, Juniper Networks skyrocketed by almost 22% on Tuesday, following a report in The Wall Street Journal suggesting Hewlett Packard Enterprise may announce a $13 billion acquisition deal with the networking hardware company later this week.
