The S&P 500 Hasn’t Altered Much as the Index Attempts to Hit a Record High

The S&P 500 remained relatively unchanged on Thursday as it approached a new all-time high.

The broad market index saw a minimal increase of 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 34 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite experienced a stronger climb of 0.3%.

This trading day followed a modestly successful day on Wall Street, with the S&P 500 gaining 0.1% and nearing its record levels. The Nasdaq Composite also saw a slight increase of nearly 0.2%, while the Dow finished the day 0.3% higher.

As the trading year comes to a close, both the blue-chip Dow and the S&P 500 are on track to finish significantly higher, with gains of over 13% and 24% respectively. The S&P 500 only needs a slight increase of 0.3% to surpass its previous highest closing level, reached in January 2022 at 4,796.56.
