As investors evaluated President-elect Donald Trump’s threat of additional tariffs, the S&P 500 saw a modest increase on Tuesday.
As the Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.5%, the broad market index had a 0.3% increase.Due to a decline of over 11% in Amgen, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 192 points, or 0.4%.
Trump demanded a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods and an extra 10% tax on Chinese imports on Monday night. He has already stated that he will apply a 20% maximum tariff to all imports and an extra 60% minimum duty to Chinese goods.
