Friday’s stock futures saw a modest decline as investors considered the newest information on international trade following President Donald Trump’s decision to postpone the imposition of fresh reciprocal tariffs.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 120 points, or 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures fell 0.1%. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.1%.
Trump signed a document on Thursday outlining a strategy to levy taxes on imports from nations that apply customs on American exports. The new tariffs go into effect right away.
Trump instead assigned Howard Lutnick, his choice for Commerce Secretary, to oversee research on the proper tariffs for each nation.
