After a robust week, stocks saw minimal movement on Friday as investors considered the most recent developments in inflation and international trade.
A decline of 101 points, or 0.2%, was recorded by the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The Nasdaq Composite increased by 0.3% and the S&P 500 by 0.1%.
With investors feeling more confident about President Donald Trump’s tariff plans and new inflation data turning out to be more positive than initially anticipated, stocks are poised to close the week higher.
Additionally, traders ignored data released on Friday that showed retail sales for January fell 0.9%, which was worse than the 0.2% decrease predicted by the Dow Jones.
