Warren Buffett Claims that “the Tooth Fairy Doesn’t pay ’em” and Refers to Trump’s Tariffs as a Levy on Products

Warren Buffett, the renowned CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, recently shared his views on President Donald Trump’s tariffs during an interview with CBS News.

He cautioned that such punitive measures could lead to inflation and ultimately burden consumers. “Tariffs are actually an act of war, to some degree,” Buffett remarked, humorously adding, “The tooth fairy doesn’t pay ’em!” He emphasized that tariffs function as a tax on goods and prompted listeners to consider their broader economic effects.

This was Buffett’s first public comment on Trump’s trade policies, particularly in light of the announced 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada and a 10% tariff on China, both set to take effect on March 4.

Buffett’s concerns echo his previous warnings during Trump’s first term about the potential global repercussions of aggressive trade moves. At 94, he remains an influential voice in the discussion on economic policy.
