The firms said on Thursday that Tesla aims to add 20,000 electric vehicle charging stations across 2,000 Hilton locations in the United States, Mexico, and Canada starting next year.
By providing more easy charging stations, Tesla hopes to achieve broad acceptance via the expansion of wall connectors. Any North American vehicle model, not just Tesla automobiles, can be charged using the company’s Universal Wall Connector. It’s important to Hilton to satiate demand from both leisure and business travellers.
“The amount of EV charging requests is rising quickly and significantly. With this new relationship with Tesla, we’re attempting to address the needs of our visitors,” said Matt Schuyler, chief brand officer of Hilton, to CNBC.
The announcement comes as business travel season gets underway. More executives will be attending events like the APEC Summit, Communicopia, and Dreamforce, providing hotel operators with an opportunity to boost income. Hotel rates in the United States decreased over the summer as more Americans travelled abroad to see Europe. Wall Street analysts will be interested to see if hotel brands can restore pre-pandemic levels of business trip bookings in the United States this autumn.
