As the Federal Reserve started its most recent policy meeting, traders also focused on Washington. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 17,147.42, down 1.28% from the day’s opening close of 5,436.44, the broad market index down 0.5%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached 40,743.33, up 203.40 points, or 0.5%. Microsoft’s stock fell by roughly 0.9%, while Nvidia’s fell by 7%. Tech behemoths Meta Platforms, Netflix, and Amazon also saw a dip.
