Nasdaq Closes 2% Higher and the S&P 500 Rises as they Recover from the Disastrous Inflation Report

Amidst erratic trading on Wednesday, stocks experienced a surge as investors assessed the implications of the most recent U.S. inflation statistics on Federal Reserve policy.

After plunging to sharp session lows, tech equities led the recovery. Closed at 5,554.13, the S&P 500 increased by 1.07%.

The broad market index saw its first intraday decline of 1% on Wednesday, followed by a more than 1% closing change since October 2022.

The Dow of thirty stocks finished at 40,861.71, up 124.75 points, or 0.31%. There was a 743.89 point loss on the blue-chip index at its lowest. Wiping away its previous losses, the Nasdaq Composite closed at 17,395.53 with an addition of 2.17%.
