SoftBank experienced a remarkable profit of $46 billion in its Vision Fund, mainly driven by the soaring value of its investment in OpenAI.
The company invested over $30 billion in OpenAI, and the gains from this stake totaled $45 billion over the past year.
In the last quarter ending in March, the Vision Fund saw a profit of around $20 billion, mostly attributable to OpenAI, while facing losses from other investments like Coupang, DiDi Global, and Klarna.
SoftBank is strategically positioning itself at the forefront of the artificial intelligence revolution, with a diverse portfolio of AI and chip companies, with OpenAI led by Sam Altman serving as a central focus.
