Dutch cloud provider Nebius rose 11% in premarket trading Thursday following a disclosure that Situational Awareness, a hedge fund led by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, owns 12.4 million Class A shares about 5.6% of the company.
Nebius has become a prominent AI compute provider in Europe, securing major partnerships including a $27 billion deal with Meta in March to supply dedicated and additional compute capacity over five years.
The firm also received a $2 billion investment from Nvidia the same month, collaborating on AI infrastructure and deployment.
Nebius is listed in the U.S. and has gained 149% year to date.
