Alphabet’s New CFO Arrived in the Midst of the GLP-1 Boom. She is Now Focused on Generative AI

Ruth Porat, Alphabet’s outgoing finance head, has spent the last year and a half attempting to steer her internet firm through the generative artificial intelligence boom.

The person who was recently named her successor was immersed in a very other phenomenon: anti-obesity medications.

Following a nearly year-long search, Alphabet announced on Wednesday that Anat Ashkenazi, Chief Financial Officer of Eli Lilly, will be its new CFO.

During that period, Ashkenazi has run the books of the world’s most valuable pharmaceutical company, which has struggled to meet demand for weight reduction medications Mounjaro and Zepbound.
