“Although Late to AI Coding, Microsoft and Google’s Competition Is ‘Absolutely Critical’ for Growth”

In the rapidly growing generative AI market, Anthropic has taken a leading position, primarily driven by Claude Code, its AI coding assistant.

Observing where the opportunities lie, OpenAI shifted much of its focus from consumer applications to enterprise solutions, with its Codex offering competing directly with Claude Code.

Meanwhile, Google and Microsoft are actively entering the fray, leveraging their substantial financial resources and extensive cloud infrastructure to attract developers.

At its recent developer conference, Google emphasized agentic AI, unveiling Antigravity 2.0, which can coordinate multiple agents to perform tasks simultaneously such as coding a website while generating brand assets.

Additionally, Google announced Gemini 3.5 Flash, highlighting its “frontier performance for agents and coding.”
