NYU Langone Health is set to introduce Amazon’s palm-scanning technology, known as Amazon One, for appointment check-ins. This innovative, contactless service allows for quick and secure identification of patients, significantly improving the check-in process at their facilities.
With more than 10 million patient visits each year, every minute is crucial. NYU Langone anticipates that Amazon One will reduce patient check-in times from two to three minutes to under one minute.
Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs Andrew Rubin emphasized that this advancement not only creates a more positive experience for patients by allowing faster entry but also decreases the administrative burden on staff, as less verification work will be required.
Overall, the integration of Amazon’s technology aims to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve wait times, benefiting both patients and healthcare providers.
