AMD Anticipates that U.S. Semiconductor Restrictions on China will Cost them $800 Million

After Advanced Micro Devices warned that it would be charged up to $800 million for exporting its MI308 devices to China and other nations, the company’s stock fell more than 5% on Wednesday.

In the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, AMD stated, “The Company expects to apply for licenses but there is no assurance that licenses will be granted.”

AMD’s petition, the new U.S. licensing requirement, which is applicable to exports of specific semiconductor goods, would have an impact on inventory, purchase commitments, and related reserves.
