Monday saw a decline in stock futures as the United States announced that tariffs would take effect on August 1 rather than July 9.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 8 points, or less than 0.1%.
Nasdaq-100 and S&P 500 futures fell 0.4% and 0.2%, respectively.
In Monday’s premarket trading session, Tesla shares fell by about 7% following CEO Elon Musk’s announcement over the weekend that he intended to create a new political party named the “America Party.”
This year, the billionaire ventured into politics, which has angered investors and, Â hurt Tesla’s sales and reputation.
