As investors prepared for the conclusion of the second quarter and the first half of the year and looked toward the upcoming set of economic data, the S&P 500 increased on Tuesday.
The Nasdaq Composite increased 0.5% while the broader market index increased by 0.3%. Additionally, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 41 points, or 0.1%.
At 10 a.m., data on consumer confidence and new home sales are scheduled to be released. While the Case-Shiller house price index revealed unexpected price resiliency, the durable goods orders released earlier in the day unexpectedly increased.
