As Investors Try to Rebound from Monday’s Tariff Shock, the S&P 500 Has Not Altered Much

President Donald Trump postponed the tariff deadline once more and indicated flexibility on that schedule with nations willing to engage, which caused investors to attempt to rebound from a sharp sell-off on Monday.

Although the Nasdaq Composite remained steady, the S&P 500 moved slightly below the flatline.

In less than 0.3 percent of cases, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 116 points.

“If they call up and they say something a different way, we’re going to be open to that,” Trump said late Monday, referring to the revised tariff deadline of August 1 as “not 100% firm.”
