S&P 500 futures were relatively unchanged on Thursday as the benchmark index approached a potential new record high.
S&P 500 futures remained stable, while Nasdaq 100 futures showed a 0.2% increase. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures experienced a slight decline of 70 points, equivalent to 0.16%.
This movement in the futures market follows a moderately positive day on Wall Street. The S&P 500 saw a 0.1% gain, edging closer to record territory. The Nasdaq Composite also experienced a modest increase of nearly 0.2%, while the Dow, consisting of 30 major stocks, closed with a 0.3% rise.
As we approach the final two trading sessions of the year, the Dow and S&P 500 are on track to finish with significant gains of more than 13% and 24%, respectively. The S&P 500 merely needs to increase slightly over 0.3% in order to surpass its previous record closing level of 4,796.56, achieved in January 2022.
