Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, will Retire at the End of the Year

According to an internal memo from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is set to step down from his role at the video game company on December 29. This news comes as no surprise following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion in October, a deal that underwent strict regulatory scrutiny in the U.S., the U.K., and Europe.

Initially, Kotick had expressed his intention to continue as CEO until the end of 2023. However, with this latest development, his tenure will come to an end earlier than anticipated. Kotick has been associated with Activision since February 1991 when he joined the company as Director and CEO of Activision Inc. Subsequently, he served as CEO of Activision Blizzard from July 2008 onwards.
