Campbell Brown, Who Oversees the News Partnership for Meta, is Leaving the Organisation

According to Meta, after seven years with the company, Campbell Brown, the top executive in charge of managing alliances with news publishers, is leaving.

On Tuesday, the business announced that Brown, a former anchor for NBC News and CNN, would leave her post as vice president of media partnerships and transition into the role of consultant.

According to Meta, Brown’s staff will be integrated into a different organisation that develops and manages partnerships with the media and sports.

Brown’s resignation was first covered by Axios.

When Brown joined Meta in 2017, Facebook—then known as the company—was under harsh criticism for how it handled the spread of false material in the run-up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Brown’s reputation as a journalist led to her employment.

Brown’s job included serving as a point of contact between the business and the numerous various news providers that resorted to the platform to send stories to viewers. For years, Meta’s relationship with news publishers was strained because of the company’s many adjustments, such as prioritising more entertainment and short-form video above news in user recommendations.
