On Monday, the S&P 500 inched higher by a tiny 0.02%, supported by a recovery in chip stocks and a slight decline in oil prices.
The Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.18%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 262 points, or roughly 0.5%.
Semiconductor stocks were broadly down but recovered from session lows. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) fell around 2%, extending its losses from Friday.
Leading declines were AMD (down 4%) and Teradyne (down 5%), with Micron Technology dropping approximately 3%.
Chipmakers saw early gains after Chinese chipmaker CXMT’s successful IPO in Shanghai, but ongoing uncertainty about Chinese companies and intense competition remain concerns.
