S&P 500 Edges Up Amid Falling Oil Prices, Limited by Chip Stock Weakness

On Monday, the S&P 500 edged into positive territory, rising 0.1%, supported by a recovery in chip stocks and a slight decline in oil prices.

The Nasdaq Composite remained largely unchanged, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained approximately 260 points, or 0.5%.

Semiconductor stocks experienced broad declines but bounced off session lows.

The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) fell around 2%, extending its losses from Friday.

Leading the declines were AMD (down 4%) and Teradyne (down 5%), with Micron Technology dropping about 3%.
