Following President Donald Trump’s announcement of increased taxes on imported products in letters to nations, stocks fell sharply to begin the week Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average completed the day at 44,406.36, down 422.17 points, or 0.94%.
The S&P 500 closed at 6,229.98, down 0.79%, while the Nasdaq Composite closed at 20,412.52, down 0.92%.
All three of the major averages had their worst day since mid-June.
