On Monday, Dexcom declared that the United States could now legally purchase its brand-new continuous glucose monitor, Stelo, over-the-counter.
The primary sugar that people get from their diet is glucose, which serves as the body’s energy source. Small sensors that pierce the skin to assess blood sugar levels in real time are called continuous glucose monitors, or CGMs.
Due to their ability to notify users, their loved ones, and their doctors of emergencies, they are commonly given to patients with diabetes.
Although those without prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes can also purchase Stelo, its primary target population is patients who do not take insulin.
Customers can purchase an online one-month supply for $99 or commit to a monthly subscription plan for $89 to avoid missing any deliveries.
A statement from Dexcom stated that patients also have the choice to pay for Stelo with money from their Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts.
