The food delivery service Foodpanda, which has its headquarters in Singapore, revealed to CNBC on Friday that it is undertaking its most recent round of layoffs because the need to be “more agile remains crucial.”
Being smaller, more effective, and even more agile is currently our company’s top objective. The APAC CEO of Foodpanda, Jakob Sebastian Angele, stated on Thursday in a letter distributed to staff members that CNBC was able to view that in order to accomplish this, “We need to streamline our processes so that we can adopt a more systematic approach for the coming days.”
He made no mention of the number of affected personnel or departments.
According to media reports, this is Foodpanda’s third round of layoffs since job cuts in February and September of last year amid financial headwinds. This year, headcounts were also decreased at Grab and Deliveroo.
Although we previously took some action earlier this year, Angele emphasised that more needed to be done to build up the ideal environment for our activities.
For greater consistency and concentration, these initiatives include revising organisational structure between regional and national teams as well as moving some functional reporting lines under other leaders, according to Angele.
