As semiconductor stocks sagged, the Nasdaq Composite ended Friday down and recorded its second straight negative week in 2023.
A decline in semiconductor stock prices, including those of Advanced Micro Devices, Nvidia, and Micron, contributed to the tech-heavy Nasdaq’s 0.6% decline. The S&P 500 dipped by 0.1%. Merck & Co. and Chevron’s gains contributed to a 0.3% increase in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, or around 105 points.
